Prayer in a course in miracles (ACIM) is completely different and very beautiful. More than a song, it is a joyful exchange of love and thanksgiving between God and his creatures that uses the process of forgiveness to mend the mind until all that remains is a song of prayer. It is the ticket home, so it is worth understanding true prayer and forgiveness to retrain the mind.

Prayer is the exchange (sharing) of the Song of Love and Creation or the judgments of the ego based on what you are asking for (accepting) in your mind. There is no other way. In the Course, the mind (content) is divided between God and the ego; and all the time you choose the side as the reason for the effect.

Forms (all things in this world) are flawed creatures that reflect the ego's critical thinking system. We invented it (we created this world wrongly) and we can give it up at any time by correcting the mind (sorry). True prayer requires this correction of the mind, because God has nothing to do with forms.

What sentence is not:

Since you always make decisions, what you ask for when you pray is important. When you pray for God to solve a form problem with another form problem, you are asking the ego mind (not God) for help. These forms and needs are considered more important than the Love of God, which remains hidden as long as you choose illusion.

All external things (forms) are necessities. Other labels are desires, desires, conditions, problems, illnesses, human love (special relationships), gifts and goals in this world, etc. They are what you choose as substitutes for the Love of God, and the ego will distort the purpose of prayer by using them to support the illusion. So prayer cannot be about “ways” or “needs” in any way.

Purpose of prayer:

The Prayer Song is defined by the Course as a Song of Creation, Love and Gratitude, sung from the Father to the Son and returned from the Son to the Father. God gave this gift of Love to his Son at creation, making it one voice shared by Creator and Created. The constant back and forth exchange of Love and Creation extends them forever into eternity. That is the purpose of prayer.

In this world of illusion form, this prayer remains a gift from God offered through the Holy Spirit, a remembrance of God in the mind. This is how you come to God in illusion. Anyone who has remembered even the smallest moment of this all-encompassing joy must begin to question what he has chosen (pray about it) and how to change his mind so he can have it all the time.
